ESL Tutor/Instructor - Cross Cultural Networks - Boston, MA (December 2014- December 2016)
One-on-one English tutoring and instruction for Chinese ESL students studying abroad at U.S. partner schools at high school level.
Associate Editor for Apogee Magazine at High Point University - High Point, NC (December 2013-December 2014)
Responsible for helping to select submissions for publication, propose edits of potential submis- sions, and create layout for biannual issues of literary magazine. Other responsibilities include proposing creative-writing outreach programs in the community, cultivating new submissions from sources outside of the university, and helping to plan events such as the Phoenix Literary Festival.
Writing Studio Lecturer for the Writing Center at High Point University - High Point, NC (December 2013- December 2014)
Responsible for leading a class of five students in workshopping and drafting techniques for ENG 1103 classes (a required English course for freshmen). Lecturer responsibilities include creating lesson plans for weekly class meetings, teaching proper academic paper formatting, and helping students develop effective research strategies.
Resource Desk Assistant at High Point University Library - High Point, NC (Spring 2014 -December 2014)
Responsible for helping students conduct research for various assignments in various academic disciplines, as well as demonstrating use of the library website and media services for students, professors, and other university staff.
Writing Tutor in the Writing Center at High Point University - High Point, NC (Fall 2012- December 2014)
Responsible for helping graduate and undergraduate students work through the writing process from initial brainstorming to peer editing to final review. Prerequisites for this tutoring position include high academic standing and demonstrated excellence in writing.
Student Teacher at Southwest High School, Guilford, NC (Fall 2011)
Student teacher at local high school responsible for leading classroom discussions and activities for grade 11 English students. Implemented knowledge of English literature, composition, and critical reading to engage students and improve quality of classroom experience.
